If your bad breath is still consistent even after using home remedies, there may be other related health issues. Your dentist will conduct an exam to see if your bad breath is a symptom of another disease.
- Respiratory tract infections usually cause bad breath.
- Halitosis may occur as a mild symptom of acid reflux, diabetes and liver failure.
- Bad breath may also come as a side effect of some medication.
Avoid acidic meals and always rinse your teeth after eating. Ensure you visit your dentist at least twice a year for dental cleanings.

Dr. Irfan Haque BCHD (LEEDS), PG DIP & MSC (DENT IMP) (SALFORD)
After qualifying in Leeds in 1998, Irfan worked for 9 years in a number of busy NHS practices which cemented his skills in all aspects of dentistry from simple fillings to surgical removal of teeth. Since 2007 he has worked solely in private dentistry. Having completed a certificate course in dental implants in 2008 Irfan went on to complete a Master’s Degree in Dental Implantology.
Irfan also completed a 12-month advanced restorative course in 2008 which concentrated on advanced techniques in a number of dental treatments including crowns, bridges, veneers, and fillings. He completed the SAAD course in intravenous sedation in 2012 as well as courses in short-term orthodontics by Cfast and 6 Months Smiles. Irfan’s most recent course was on advanced bone grafting procedures for implant treatment.
Treating every patient as if they were a member of his own family and giving them the highest level of care is the philosophy Irfan works by. "Giving someone their smile back and the confidence that gives them is such a rewarding part of the job."
Irfan spends as much of his time with his family as possible. He is the coach for his son’s football team and enjoys participating in a number of different sports when the time permits (which isn’t as often as he would like).
